Wow! Our first week of school has just ended. What a wonderful week! Yes, there were plenty of times I had to take a deep breath, lean on his strength and ask for more patience. I guess I want him to just remember what “I’m assuming” he was already taught last year in school. But I am learning how to teach him and how to patiently repeat and reteach. In just a week I can see his confidence building as he reads out loud. He is enjoying reading his own bible. When he is done with his story he says “That was good reading! Right Mama!” It sure was!
We had so much fun learning our memory verse, Revelation 3:20 and singing songs to memorize our continents and oceans. I learned or maybe, I hope, relearned some things as well. A giraffe can kill a lion with one kick of it’s hoof (I didn’t know it was that strong) and that the difference between monkeys and apes is a tail! I also learned that mama animals are awesome! For example, the male tiger leaves and the female tiger is the one that feeds her cubs, protects them and teaches them to swim and hunt. I guess just like we are doing as homeschoolers. Although, I love that our papa hasn’t just left us and works so hard so I can homeschool!
The best part of this week is seeing my son’s smile and hearing him giggle while we work. Our read aloud time is also so wonderful. Right now we are on an adventure on the island of Capri. Can’t wait to see where our adventure takes us next week!
